As older tender groups are experiencing a decline in attendance primarily due to shipmates going on their last cruise, you can imagine those numbers going down turns into a problem with getting good rates for hotels and tours.

Eventually all of our groups are going to be looking at this sad reality so we want to get ahead of that before some groups just fold up. That all said we looking for other AS associations to see if there’s any interest or need to team up on reunions.

The President of the USS Sperry AS-12 Association and the President of the USS Canopus AS-34 Association are looking at doing “joint” sub tender reunions where our associations remain intact, but we use our combined numbers to get the better rates etc.

We have formed this National Submarine Tender Association which will be solely used to coordinate associations that need to team up, much like a clearing house for information and even working together to set up these “joint reunions”. All NSTA member Associations will remain as their own associations and operate and do their business as they normally do.
